RCA SelectaVision VideoDiscs of

Dr. No and From Russia With Love - 1981- 82

The Dr. No and From Russia With Love CEDS sold on EBAY December 2, 2003 for $2.00

Although not too rare to find on Ebay or other Internet outlets, these two CEDS (Capacitance Electronic Disc System) featured the best original artwork for this format of the James Bond series.  The 12" record like videodisc was encased inside a plastic sleeve.  The sleeve would be inserted into the RCA CEDS player and the disc would be lifted out.  The sleeve would than be removed and the viewer would watch approximately one hour of the video presentation.  At the end of Side A, the viewer would then eject the disc back into the sleeve and flip the sleeve over and insert it into the player to play side B.

Longer films had to be sold with 2 or more discs.  The Bond series was first introduced to the home video market by this format.  Every Bond film was released on CEDS up to 1985's A View to a Kill.  By 1987's The Living Daylights, the format was outdated.  One of the biggest problems with this format was that many videodisc would become scratched and would skip through a scene as they were playing.

These CEDs are fast becoming collectibles to Bond fans because of the artwork.
